COE rates vary depending on the type of vehicle, aside from professional ones.

Certificate of Entitlement ( COE ) premiums declined across most categories on 20 November, with Category A premiums experiencing a significant S$ 10, 000 decrease.

This signifies a 10 per cent fall, bringing the price to S$ 89, 889. For the third consecutive tender, the prices for Category A, which include electric vehicles ( EVs ), and smaller and less powerful cars, have decreased. This is also the category’s steepest decline since January, when rates dropped by S$ 990.

Category B COE rates, covering larger and more powerful vehicles and EVs, decreased by 2.7 per cent to S$ 105, 081, along from S$ 108, 001 at the previous sweet. S

imilarly, Open Category COEs, which are flexible and generally applied to larger automobiles, dropped by 1.4 per share, landing at S$ 107, 501 compared to S$ 109, 000 two weeks prior.

Motorcycle COEs ( Category D) even saw a decrease, falling by 4.6 per share to S$ 8, 669 from the previous cost of S$ 9, 089.

In contrast, commercial vehicle COE premiums ( Category C ) increased by 1 per cent, rising to S$ 69, 000 from S$ 68, 340. Cars and merchandise vans are included in this category.

A number of factors, including fluctuating vehicle requirement and modifications to COE allotment allocations, have contributed to this general trend of declining rates in recent months. Analysts speculate that the S$ 10,000 decline in Category A prices may be a result of lower consumer demand and earlier than anticipated quota releases.

The COE program, key to Singapore’s car ownership policies, allocates a restricted number of credentials through a bidding process, ensuring car growth coincides with infrastructure capacity. Prices generally fluctuate based on need, economic problems, and changes to federal regulations.

Coming tenders will be closely monitored by drivers and business stakeholders because prices will be highly variable. Some people anticipate that COE premiums will increase as business conditions change, especially in the year-end car registration deadline.
